My life as a Gamefly Customer

I first joined Gamefly back in July of 2005. I got one of those two week free trails so I decided to take a chance and try their service out. That was almost three years ago, and to this day I am still a satisfied customer.

There are a few reasons that I love subscribing to Gamefly. When it comes to video game rentals the key element is selection. If a rental subscription costs as little as $15.00 a month, but has no games, what's the point? Gamefly has hundreds of titles available across many platforms. Currently you can rent games for the following: PS3, PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, Xbox, Wii, Gamecube, Nintendo DS & Gameboy advance. It's very convenient that Gamefly still offers GBA games for rental, considering they are no longer made. In the past there have been times where I wanted to buy a certain game, and couldn't find it in any stores. I would check Gamefly to see if they had the game available for rental and boom there it was. I've been able to try out games that I never would have been able to, thanks to Gamefly.

The second reason I love Gamefly is their fast shipping. If you play video games, you know how hard it is to wait for one; especially if it's a game you're just dying to try. Like every other online rental company, Gamefly has a queue. You fill it up with all the games you want, in the order you want them in. Gamefly added a new service called speedy return, which makes shipping out games to you even faster. The minute a return arrives at their location, they immediately send you out another game that same day. You no longer have to wait for your return to be processed and with so many locations it only takes a few days for you to receive a new game.

If you like it, buy it, another great Gamefly feature. Awhile back I rented The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for Gamecube. I played this game for about three hours and knew I had to have it. I immediately logged in to my account and clicked the little button that said buy. To my surprise the game was cheaper then I had anticipated and I got free shipping on the case! I went back to playing Zelda and in less then a week I received my case with manual, both in perfect condition. Not only did I get a great price on the game, but I didn't have to leave my house to buy it!

Being a Gamefly member also has a rewards program. Every three months you get $5.00 in Gamefly dollars, which can be used towards the purchase of a video game. Besides the Gamefly dollars members also get free MP3 downloads a month, which are ITunes and Windows Media player compatible. With so many extra added incentives, Gamefly is number one in online game rentals.

The Reason behind Gamefly's Success

Gamefly has been the number one company in video game rental for the past few years. A few companies have opened up like Gottaplay and Gamez N Flix but they just can't compete with Gamefly. So what makes Gamefly so successful, quite a few things.

I've compiled a list of the different factors that have contributed to making Gamefly the powerhouse it is.
1. Selection: No one will rent from you if the only games you have are old and unpopular. In order to stay on top of the competition not only do you need to have all the new and upcoming titles, but rare ones. Having a wide selection makes us gamers very, very happy. Gamefly currently has over 5000 different games and multi platforms. With so many games to choose from your sure to always have some great options.

2. Pricing: These days it's all about the mighty dollar, which most of us are lacking. Video games have grown increasing popular over the years but the majority of heavy players are ages 16-30, which means a great majority of us are also poor. We can't spend $60.00 every time we buy a game, which means we have to rent and we can't rent games that are going to cost us an arm and a leg. Gamefly's pricing structure has very reasonable prices ranging from the cheapest plan of 1 game at a time for $15.95/month up to 4 games at a time for $36.95/month. There are no late fees, so you can keep your games as long as you want.

3. Shipping: Shipping is always free with Gamefly. Each game comes with a prepaid envelope to mail back to Gamefly. Currently Gamefly has three shipping centers, Tampa, Fl, Pittsburgh, PA and Los Angeles, CA. Games normally take about 2-3 days to arrive in the mail. Gamefly has added a new feature called speedy return. The minute your game arrives at the distribution center the next game on your list ships out, that same day.

4. Service: Gamefly has been known for its impeccable service. If you receive a game disc that's defective just send them an e-mail and within a week you will have a replacement. I lost the prepaid envelope once, that they send you to return the game in. I sent an e-mail saying that I needed a new one, and I had a replacement mailer within a week.

5. User Friendly Site: Gamefly's website is easy to use, and every title can be found be either genre, system or a search feature. When searching for a game click add to queue and the game is added. The site also has reviews, manuals, and sometimes even walkthroughs. As a member you can leave your own review for a game that you've played.

We gamers are simple people we want tons of games to choose from, great service, fast shipping and affordable pricing. Gamefly meets all these needs and even supersedes them. Of course there are a few gamers who might complain about their service but you know what, you can't please everyone.
